Supervisor of Music Department
June 2015 — Present
I manage and direct all music programming at Camp, and supervise and train newer song leaders.
I lead and teach a variety of American and Hebrew folk songs in camp-wide sing-a-longs, and develop programs to enhance the musical experience of over 1200 campers ages 6-16. As a song leader I have developed multiple creative programs such as song writing, connecting music with nature, and “Create Your Own Rock Band.”
My goals for these programs are to successfully teach new music, allow children and teens to use their creativity, and create an environment of teamwork and support among the campers. I am able to gauge the progress of each child and adapt to their needs, while motivating them to challenge themselves in new ways. After each program, I evaluate my implementation of the program to ensure improvement in the camp’s music program as well as growth in my leadership and program planning skills.
• Started a successful new program for teenagers to learn guitar in a group setting where half of the participants spoke limited English
• Worked with staff in other departments to create programs that combined music, art, spirituality, nature, and theater
• Created “theme-week” where a new genre or style of music was explored every day by the entire camp
