As Business Manager I was in charge of the day to day running of the business and was in charge of around 80 staff. Some of the areas and tasks I was responsible for were:
Profit - the overall profitability of the business. I had to produce a P&L on a monthly basis which would match or beat the budget set by the franchisee. To ensure all profits were maximised.
Sales Projections - Complete monthly, daily and hourly sales projections. Review sales projections on a weekly basis to ensure actual sales and projected sales were within 2% and take any required action to improve sales projections.
Cash Control - To ensure all takings are banked correctly and any discrepancies are investigated and appropriate action taken.
Scheduling staff - ensure enough staff are scheduled at all times to ensure customer satisfaction while remaining inside the labour budget.
Food Safety - Ensure the business complies with all legal requirements. Complete monthly Food Safety audit and compile a SMART action plans. Implementation of company systems and procedures to Ensure completion of daily food safety paperwork. Ensure all staff are trained adequately and that ongoing training is completed on an annual basis.
Health & Safety - Ensure the business complies with all legal requirements. complete quarterly audits and compile a SMART action plan and delegate the tasks accordingly. Implementation of company systems and procedures to ensure all legal paperwork is completed correctly. Ensure all First Aid at Work courses are completed in a timely manner. over see the safety and security of staff and customers.
Stock Control - Ordering of all stock to ensure an adequate supply of products but also minimise waste. Complete accurate weekly and monthly stock counts.
Maintenance: Plan and organise the ongoing servicing of all equipment, ensure all equipment is maintained in good working order. Ensure the building is maintained in good working order.
Hiring - Hiring of staff to ensure there is always enough staff to schedule for the projected sales. Ensure staff are motivated and happy to ensure staff turnover is reduced. Hold regular performance reviews with all staff to ensure they stayed motivated and any issues with performance were addressed.
Training - Ensure all staff are trained to a high standard to ensure great levels of customer satisfaction. Promote and train staff to ensure the smooth running of the business. Motivate and reward staff for achieving targets.
Promotions - Implement branded promotion campaigns from Head Office including training managers and staff on any new procedures or systems, POP placement and product sampling.
Building relationships with the local community - Build brand awareness and trust within the local community by holding events with local groups, schools and residents. Ensure all feedback from the local community is listened to and acted upon to ensure we are good neighbours.
Ensure high levels of customer service are met and maintained.
Implementation of all company policies and procedures.
