Signal 88 Security

Patrolman

As a patrolman I patrolled many areas in Omaha such as apartment complexes, businesses, and industrial areas. It was my responsibility to make a strong security presence in the area, check for any signs of suspicious activity in the area, and report my findings. I also would conduct interviews with individuals, issue parking citations, and contact police when necessary. I unfortunately had to leave this position suddenly because of scheduling issues.

Pacific Pine Products

Forklift Driver/Assistant Night Shift Lead

I started with this company as a general laborer making minimum wage. Within two weeks of being with the company I was promoted to Assistant Night Shift Lead. My responsibilities were to set up machinery dimensions within ten thousandths of an inch, continuously check lumber thickness using a digital caliper, and move materials with a forklift at a fast pace. I also worked with management to ensure all orders were being filled, tagged, and packaged correctly, loaded and unloaded trucks upon arrival, and filled any laborer positions due to last minute absenteeism. I unfortunately had to end my employment with this company due to an prolonged illness that I have since recovered from.

I started with the company at it's birth and had an impact on some of the major operational decisions of the business. I was responsible for keeping inventory, setting prices, managing the till at the beginning and end of each shift, advertising and marketing for special events, new drinks, and discount drink items. I was also in charge of security, keeping records of all employees food handlers cards as well as liquor licensing and bartending permits. I worked hand in hand with the Oregon Liquor Control Commission ensuring that all rules and regulations were understood and followed. The business was thriving but unfortunately forced to close due to personal matters between the owners.

Collins Companies Fremont Sawmill

Laborer

As a laborer at Fremont Sawmill I held many responsibilities. I started as a temporary employee at an entry level position. As I worked my way up to a permanent employee, I also spent extra time such as breaks, lunches, and after work learning how to operate equipment in other job stations. I also spent time working together with the quality control manager to learn the process of grading lumber. I spent numerous hours studying and working hand in hand with the graders to learn as much as possible. The company also sent me to a Western Wood Products Association grading conference where I learned from grading inspectors about the many rules and regulations of industry. At the end of the conference there was a competition in which I placed second in my division. I excelled in most of the aspects of the company and eventually could run most of the milling equipment at production speed. However I felt that after a year and a half without a promotion or raise I was hitting a brick wall. I felt that my talents were being wasted and I pursued other avenues at this time.
