Director of Business Strategy and Retention

I work with executive leadership to discover and sculpt the vision, goals, and objectives for Yoga International—a leading online publishing and wellness event nonprofit headquartered in Northeast Pennsylvania. The process is simple:

+ Evaluate past KPI's
+ Interview necessary stakeholders and vendors to discover key areas of focus
+ Formulate an execution strategy
+ Test and refine strategy—relentless simplification
+ Facilitate department / vender onboarding

The above process ensures that the organization is able to clearly understand the reasons for taking action, and also to identify potential problems and course correct in advance.

The majority of the work is done off-site, and the focus is typically on future facing projects, with the exception of membership retention, business development, and creative design support.

Himalayan Institute /

Executive Director

Established and led an executive team to design a more traditional organizational structure for the Himalayan Institute, a diverse non-profit primarily offering yoga, meditation, and natural wellness education. Other lines of business include book and magazine publishing, natural health product manufacturing, and humanitarian projects in Africa, India, and Mexico.

Installed tiers of supervision which allowed for greater ownership and accountability at every level. This 18-month project resulted in revenue increases of over 50% and a greater level of ownership and accountability which substantially reduced costs. Designed and oversaw the complete restructuring of the two unique identities, facilitated a graceful exit from unprofitable legacy products, and directed resources to lines of business with the greatest potential.

The restructuring project led to the realization that the education initiatives of the organization would thrive better under a different identity (Yoga International) with a flatter operational structure allowing for more agile workflows, and greater productivity. Acting on this unforeseen opportunity paid massive dividends in user engagement, membership revenues, and B2B partnerships.

Envisioned and closely oversaw the UX, IA, design, and development of four eCommerce / eLearning websites in the past four years utilizing five different platforms (static HTML, Wordpress, Drupal, Shopify, and Expression Engine). Effectively translated business requirements and vision of the organization into a strategic plan that was seamlessly executed by design and development teams.
