I studied abroad program in Greece changed my perspective on history and life itself. The trip challenged me to understand how people and culture are perceived through film. We studied the way tourists commodify Greek culture because of their expectations of Greek life, largely because of media. This unfortunate reality happens through what I came to understand as an imitation of entertainment; the process when people see an image, still or moving, that was created as entertainment but is understood by the public as truth. When this entertainment image is seen as truth it is then portrayed onto a culture or people, such as Greece, and tourists unknowingly change a culture through their imitation of entertainment into reality.

Sales Associate

Qualified in many positions throughout the store. Started the job working in sales immediately, specializing in shoes, handbags, luggage, intimates, and body care. I quickly learned to use a register, as do all associates, but maintained primarily on the floor. After a few months into the job I was trained in Fitting Rooms and later in Jewelry and stocking the back-room. It was handy to be qualified in many areas of the store so that I could be flexible when needed. I also worked closely with one of the managers to shadow her daily duties as a store manager. I assisted her in application sorting, interviewing, training new employees and conducting orientation. I was on the TJX student track to become a manager myself.
