Manage a transportation department of 13 employees which includes 10 drivers, 1 lead driver supervisor and 2 driver assistants.
•Counsels, consults, communicates, instructs and monitors direct-reporting employees in acceptable practices and department and Company policies and procedures.
•Resolve employee problems, complaints, suggestions, etc.
•Hire, promote and terminate department employees.
•Responsible for employee schedules and daily routes.
•Manage potential recruits in Taleo system.
•Manage employee payroll.
•Responsible for employee performance appraisals, raises, initial bonuses and financial incentives.
•Manage driver compliance records and DOT logs.
•Identify and correct operational process gaps.
•Interprets state and federal regulations.
•Anticipates, analyzes and troubleshoots problems with pickups or deliveries and devises cost-effective solutions for the transportation department.
•Identify and analyze rates, operating costs, and revenues to establish continuous improvement designed to increase efficiencies, revenues and lower costs.
•Identifies process improvement and cost reduction strategies that are in line with business objectives.
•Participates in strategic planning by identifying short and long term strategies for the transportation department.
•Monitors transportation goals and maintains a zero error attitude to ensure accuracy and customer satisfaction.
•Analyze daily performance measures; identify any weaknesses, and recommend changes to the GM of Operations to ensure that division/company financial objectives are achieved.
•Carrier/Fleet Network Management: Responsible for 3rd party transportation companies and overall results. Provides contract negotiations support.
• Work in union with transportation companies such as Penske and Ryder to lease department equipment.
• Report any vehicle maintenance issues to transportation vendor companies.
