Not knowing where to start is a common problem among first time founders. When founding a startup you need to get comfortable with the idea that you’ll have more questions than answers and your job is to find those answers. This talk will be an introductory walk through the main problems of early-stage startups and how to solve them:

- Scoping ideas with the Business Model Canvas
- Testing your idea with customer interviews
- Tools to design and build a prototype
- Tools to find and test with early customers
- How to build a sustainable business model

The session will be led by Chris Kay:
By day, Chris is a Financial Analyst working with entrepreneurs and angel investors on their personal financial affairs.
By night, Chris is an active member of the Toronto tech start-up community. Chris mentors several startups, as well as he is a two-time mentor at Techstars Startup Next Pre-Accelerator program, the #1 startup pre-acceleration program in the world. Chris is an active speaker on frontier tech topics such as Internet of Things, Big Data and Bitcoin. Prior to co-founding Multiplicity, Chris acted as the Group Manager of the Ryerson Angel Network where he was responsible for deal-flow generation and initial screening.
Chris studied Finance at Ryerson University, and has obtained his Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designations, he is also a CAIA Canada Chapter Executive based in Toronto.
