Event Description

In this interactive session, led by Jodie Vanderman, we will focus on building tangible skills so that we obtain recognition at work, navigate office politics, and champion our career advancement. Our focus will be on team breakouts and real-time skill application. We will walk away from this fun and engaging session feeling refreshed and armed to take our careers to the next level this year. We will triumph in 2015!

Jodie Vanderman is a Senior Business Leader and Marketing Professional with more than 15 years of experience in multiple B2B and B2C settings. Her roles have ranged from small business ownership, to higher education, to a Fortune 50 company setting. Ms. Vanderman’s proven strengths include problem-solving, follow-through and leadership. She has an outstanding track-record in building high-performing teams to achieve business results. Additionally, Ms. Vanderman has extensive experience working in Asian markets, having lived in China for two years with Asia-wide responsibility. She has held full P&L accountability in the biotech and consumer goods industries.

Ms. Vanderman has had a versatile career that includes sales, marketing strategy, product management, global management, consulting and teaching. After starting and growing a successful direct sales business for several years, she obtained an MBA in Product and Market Development and Strategic Leadership. Ms. Vanderman has since led significant marketing and sales ventures globally, consulted in marketing strategy across various industries, and managed a global portfolio of biotechnology products.

Representative accomplishments include:
Led a business turnaround that exceeded target revenue by 5%.
Trained 350 diverse marketers across Asia (80% of marketers in the region) on a new strategic marketing process within one year. Led cross-functional teams using this process to deliver incremental revenue of $3M USD within 15 months.
Set a new precedent for product commercialization in a business by compressing the revenue realization process to six months, vs. the historical two-three year timeframe. Enabled the business to reforecast NPD sales to increase by $5M in 2014, critically important to short-term performance.
Grew a start-up business from 0 customers to over 500 customers within 2 years.
Developed a new recruiting strategy for marketing talent in China that saved $1M in the first year and increased the retention rate for marketing talent from 5% to 85% over three years.
Built a 25-member sales team across the United States, wholesaling up to $15,000 per month.
Developed, documented and taught a simplified segmentation methodology to enhance swift, customer-focused decision making in business critical situations. Implemented it in a business and achieved a $60M fixed cost savings in one year.

Ms. Vanderman holds an MBA from The Pennsylvania State University Smeal College of Business, and an undergraduate degree from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania with a concentration in Marketing. She has participated in several leadership trainings, including the Dale Carnegie Course, DISC® Sales and DISC® Management. She has also completed extensive cross-cultural awareness and communication training specific to Asian cultures. Ms. Vanderman has remained current in business by attending ongoing training programs in pricing, analytical problem-solving and people management; and by serving as an Adjunct Professor teaching Marketing Strategy, Marketing Management, Personal Selling and Advertising.

Ms. Vanderman is an avid golfer, hiker and weight lifter. She is a member of Lean In, Chester County, supporting professional women to success. Ms. Vanderman also serves on the Board of Directors at Shippensburg University and Penn State University’s Smeal College of Business MBA Program.
