Dilit International House - Rome, Italy

Italian Language Course

A gap year in Italy features in many dreams. It did not particularly feature in mine. Through a combination of circumstance, I took a chance, and I still consider it one of the best decisions I have made. Learning at Dilit was a delight, and I met so many sincere, warm people. A gap year that I would not want to have missed for the world

PPG Industries - Protective and Marine Coatings, R&D

Product Data Specialist

While finishing my master´s thesis for the University Bristol, I supported the Product Intelligence division by completing its data entry project, reporting chemical compositions to foreign governments to obtain export permission.

This particular picture dates from the volleybal season in Bristol, but it´s a passion that goes back to long before. Whereever I am, I always seek out a way to join a team.

I currently serve as the president of our local volleybal club Voluit and captain of the women´s first team.

University of Bristol

Master in Classics and Ancient History

Ancient Greece. That used to occupy my mind. Starting out in Bristol, I was of a mind to get in a PhD programme, preferrably in the US. And, if things worked out the way I hoped, to become a public academic, sharing the amazing stories of the past with a large audience. While I am still endlessly fasctinated by this time period, the year at Bristol opened my eyes what the academic profession truly entails, and what path one would have to walk to become a public academic, even if you are one of the lucky few to get such an opportunity. I realized then that this what not for, and the study of classical cultures should become a hobby rather than a profession, which it still is today.

“Words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic.”

PPG Industries - Technical Colour Center

All through high school and undergraduate I worked part-time in colour development and quality control. I assisted the laboratory in making colour samples, data entry, digital colour measurements, and the daily running of the lab.

University of Toronto

Semester Abroad, Classics

I know this should be about the amazing academic experiences and career opportunities Toronto had to offer. And it did. But there´s one thing that has defined me since this experience and still finds its way back into my life. I picked up the art of backpacking.
