In May of 2010 I was promoted to my present position where I am responsible for the planning, policy development and oversight/auditing of housing management operations such as capital improvements, rent collections, petty cash, transfers, rent calculations, and applications for housing assistance. I ensure goals and objectives are being met in accordance with federal, state and local regulations; identify areas for improvement; and provide recommendations to the Executive Director to attain goals and objectives. My role involves inspecting the conditions of public housing units, preparing work orders, issuing verbal and written notices to tenants regarding rent and charges due, disturbances, etc., conducting informal hearings to resolve problems, initiating eviction proceedings against tenants and typing various correspondence. I am also responsible for supervising a diverse professional, maintenance and support staff. In this role, a large portion of my day is spent interacting with the tenants to solve problems within the neighborhood and working to involve tenants in community programs.
