Drug and Alcohol Counsellor

Target group are parents who are drug affected and who have children under the age of 12. Counselling relates to assisting service users to address identified personal goals that relate to minimising the harms of drug use. Assisting families recover from the impacts of parental drug use, domestic violence, sexual abuse, post traumatic stress. Assisting refugees who are drug affected to recover from torture and trauma and providing assistance to integrate into the community as social networks are established.
Working with the Department of Family and Community Services to assist parents regain parental responsibility for children who have been assumed into foster care because of drug-related issues: neglect, domestic violence, abuse and truancy.
Working within the family and children courts to assist service users to achieve the outcomes that enhance children and then family well-being.
