As editor-in-chief, Leah directed Valley Magazine's 80-person staff to publish daily web content at www.valleymagazinepsu.com as well as publish a biannual print magazine. She edited weekly web content and all content for the print magazine. She oversaw and assisted the photography and design directors and the business division (pr/marketing, events and advertising).

Leah worked for both the news and entertainment sections of The Patriot-News. Her responsibilities included covering events, writing reviews and conducting interviews. Leah wrote a wide variety of stories - everything from concert reviews, to property auctions and beach guides. She also took photos and uses iMovie and Videolicious to create multimedia content for PennLive.com.

Her main responsibilities were to make sure things got done as smoothly as possible and to help the editor-in-chief. She edited web content on a weekly basis, which included grammar, AP style, Valley style and fact checking.

Editorial Intern

As an editorial intern in the magazine division, Leah was responsible for writing articles for Chesapeake Home + Living, Maryland Family, Harford and Howard magazines. Leah updated the magazine's blogs and maintained social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.

Leah also acted as an assistant during photo shoots, helping to style models, set up props, clothing and jewelry and drives to pick-up and return items borrowed for the shoots.

As a summer job, Leah opened the gym at 4:30 a.m. and greeted people as they came in to work out. She handled all phone calls and inquiries at the front desk during her shift.

Along with working the front desk, Leah helped with handling all social media for the gym. She alerted members of changes, promoted local events and motivated through Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Leah was enrolled in an advanced journalism class at Penn State which was based on writing news stories for the Centre Daily Times. She was not employed by the paper, but was instead graded on her reporting skills. Leah pitched stories and was assigned articles for the paper.
