I worked with a number of executive coaches who coached our leaders to manage their teams differently. And I was a liaison with our corporate university as they created and implemented training to support us.

Line Manager

While a Line Manager at Vanguard, I managed a team of creative professionals who supported the instructional design team in the corporate university. These editors, proofreaders, and formatters took raw documents and created the magic to turn them into professional documents. I later managed the Crew Education and Development Team within Fund Financial Services, the team that prices the Vanguard funds daily. We were the liaisons between Talent Acquisition and FFS, Vanguard University and FFS, and Crew Relations and FFS. Our role was the ensure that FFS crew had what they needed to do their jobs, and leaders had what they need to effectively lead their teams.



Corporate Trainer

My Corporate Trainer role was one of my favorite jobs! I was the lead trainer for the Vanguard Management Development Program, a cadre-approach with learning teams that stretched over five months. This cutting edge program made a huge difference in my life as a leader and in the lives of so many in the program. It integrated leadership concepts and practices from Thought Leaders like Kouzes and Posner, Max Lucado, Ken Blanchard and others, with Eastern philosophies like Aikido and the Tao of Leadership. It set the foundation for the leader I am today.

I entered Home Unity as a Regional Sales Manager. We brought an initial focus on sales and cross-selling to the bank. I then became VP of Training & Development and created the bank's first supervisory training program, it's first cross-selling program, enhanced teller training, and a complete customer service program.

This was the beginning of my banking career. I entered the workforce as a Teller, was promoted to Branch Manager, and then to Branch Coordinator. I brought a number of new things to the bank -- performance appraisals, a teller training program, and a job posting system.

The Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching is a top-tier coaching school with an international training program. It includes three in-person intensive training weekends with peer-to-peer coaching, mentor coaching, webinar-based weekly training, and peer group support. iPEC is recognized by the International Coach Federation (ICF) as an Accredited Coach Training Program (ACTP) which more easily leads to certification for coaches. I am now an Associate Certified Coach with the ICF - standards include levels of training, mentoring, coaching hours, and written and oral exams.
