University of Delaware

Bachelor of Science, Marketing

In 2014, I became a Fighting Blue Hen at the University of Delaware. I came in as a Marketing Major in the Lerner College of Business and Economics and have loved every second. I've studied courses related to marketing, business, advertising, management information systems and more. Delaware is great because they incorporate hands-on learning into classes. I can see what I learn in the classroom to everyday business situations. I knew I chose the right major because I am always actively engaged and interested in what we learn.

Marketing is not just business. I love the creative outlet that marketing allows you to have. It is such a collaborative effort because you constantly have to bounce ideas off co-workers.

Kappa Alpha Theta, Zeta Tau

Service and Philanthropy Director

I was chosen to serve as Service & Philanthropy Director for Zeta Tau’s chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta after showing a love for community service. During my experience, I organized our chapter’s signature philanthropy events, our annual CASA 5K and CASA Royale Casino Night. I also educated our members of our three philanthropies, worked in conjunction with various Greek organizations to raise awareness for numerous causes, researched/presented diverse volunteer opportunities for chapter members and chaired three committees.

A main part of being Service and Philanthropy Director is planning our two signature events, CASA Royale and CASA 5K.
I did not realize how much work actually goes in to planning a 5K. There was a lot of communication to multiple people that had to happen to make this event great. This event was able to raise over $2,000, all for our local chapter of CASA.

Social Media Ambassador

As a Social Media Ambassador, it is my responsibility to manage a school sponsored Twitter and Instagram account and collaborate with the other ambassadors to create and curate fun, engaging content for the Blue Hen community. I provide insight to prospective students into the life of a Blue Hen Student by covering on-campus events through live-tweeting and content curation. I learn and apply social media strategies to maintain personal brand and grow personal following, and engage others with strong content.

Twitter Profile

As a social media ambassador for the University of Delaware, I help run a Twitter and Instagram account, @BlueHenLauren. I update current and prospective students on what is happening around campus and just my life in general.
My favorite memory from this program was meeting Joe Biden at UD's "Biden is Back" event for the opening of the Biden Institute!

Block Island Accomodations

Executive Assistant

I moved to Block Island for a month to work for a local Bed and Breakfast. I took on many different roles while there. My primary responsibilities were greeting guests at the front desk and performing administrative work but I also helped with decorating for holidays and other events. I had a main focus in the office with marketing which included updating social medias and implementing email campaigns. I developed a social media plan that was implemented through the use of Hootsuite, where I scheduled social media posts for six months out on three different outlets including Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. I also learned how to use Zenreach to create email campaigns that were sent to guests.

Legrand, North America

Marketing Communications Intern

During my time as an intern, I assisted on many different projects including editing and uploading collateral, drafting and posting client communications content for blogs, website, newsletters and social media, drafting and sending email campaigns and creating promotional materials for both social media and print including signage, brochures, and internal/external presentations. On my own, I completed a competitor analysis for the data communications industry that I later presented to the department. I researched marketing strategies and sales material both on and offline. I learned about the different positions within a marketing department and had hands-on experience in each including sitting in on conference calls or meetings.
