To style, design, color and merchandise the beach, swim and scarf lines from conceptual stage through to and including correction of strike-offs. Responsibilities include:
Work with the Design Director & Creative Director to establish concepts, color and product direction for each season for good and better part of the line for scarves, wraps, and novelties.
Select designs to support merchandising plan within each concept.
Present completed artwork (including original art, layout, and colorways) to Design Director and Creative Director for final approval.
Prepare all designs (color, engraving, and fabric instructions) to send to mill.
Present good, better portions of line during market to sales-educating the sales team about the design process for the season, the design details, fabrications, and finishing of the line.

Accessory Street

Print Designer

Reported to the VP of Design. Responsible for original layouts: placed prints & all over piece goods for scarves. In addition to creating scarves for licensed brands, worked to develop collections for private label customers. Communicated & developed styles with factories in China and India; presented upcoming print trends; and maintained current print development books.


One Mango Tree

Textile Designer

Designed women’s apparel and handbag fabrics. Presented each season’s color trends and new product designs. Oversaw design and textile development from sampling through to production. Collaborated with cooperatives to create one of kind woven, knit and dyed fabrics. Managed Artisans sewing handbags and apparel. Sourced wax cloth (kitenge) fabrics in the local markets as well as worked with local manufacturers to print yardage. Other responsibilities included: creating tech packs, training Artisans to sew new designs, and helping production do quality checks on finished goods ready for shipment.

Assistant to the General Manager

Trained adults in local townships to become self-sufficient through sustainable business and skills training: sewing, fabric printing and jewelry making. Updated media and social networking sites, fundraised/marketed for South African and US donors, assisted entrepreneur classes and presentations, and trained staff for management positions.

Created all repeating/engineered prints from original and purchased artwork, communicated with mills, designed layouts for trims and embellishments. Worked with design and production teams to ensure quality from sample yardage through to bulk.
