After moving to Utah, I flew back to Kentucky twice a month to oversee the transition of the medical practice to the new owners. During the time I was not in Kentucky, I worked through Americorps to set up a tutoring program at the elementary school in Morgan UT for children who were starting to fall behind in reading.

-implemented a tutoring program at the school for reading
-met with teachers, parents and administrators to share the vision of the program and get it started
-recruited local businesses to 'donate' employees as tutors
-featured on KSL for our tutoring success
-raised reading scores of children from 'below grade level' to 'proficient'
-trained employees fromYoung Chevrolet, Holcim Cement plant and other community volunteers
-implemented a literacy night at the school to promote reading
-attended community meetings to raise awareness
