Founded in 2010, LJW Community Strategies offers strategic planning for elected leaders and organizations, professional development for government and political staff, campaign planning and strategy for candidates and organizing training for community based organizations.

In addition, we produce the Women In High Places event series which promotes career growth and networking opportunities for women in government, politics, and community affairs related professions.

• Strategic member of the senior executive team to elect Bill Thompson as New York City Mayor providing ongoing counsel to the Campaign Manager and Candidate on strategy and execution;

• Created and lead a team to execute a political outreach and field surrogate plan to secure and utilize the endorsements of elected officials, county leaders, political clubs and community organizations;

• Developed new and maintained existing relationships, solicited and coordinated endorsement events, and maintained ongoing communication with more than 150 elected officials, prominent national leaders and other citywide and local campaigns.

Brooklyn Lives Project


Developed the Brooklyn Lives Project and executed a plan to address the HIV/AIDS crisis in Brooklyn which provided free HIV/AIDS testing in over 25 locations including, high schools, colleges, churches, and community based organizations.

Solicited corporate sponsorship from 5 major media corporations, received in-kind donations from 15 corporations and organizations, and organized a breakfast with Borough-wide support from elected officials which received media coverage from 3 television networks, and 12 local and national newspapers.

Managed a seven member project team and completed over 15 radio, television and newspaper interviews.


Friends of Karim Camara

Campaign Manager

• Successfully managed the day-to-day operations of the campaign to elect Karim Camara the representative of the New York State 43rd Assembly District leading a full campaign team including direct staff, consultants, and advisors;

• Established and maintained correspondence with various labor organizations, elected officials and other political campaigns.

• Created and maintained the campaign budget, the petition operation, the field and outreach plan, solicited endorsements, submitted and reviewed candidate questionnaires, created and reviewed campaign literature and materials and managed the work of campaign consultants.

Brooklyn Young Democrats


Reorganized the chapter from a list of 10 members to 75 active members and a mailing list of over 3,286 registered democratic voters under the age of 35. Created ongoing projects and programs to retain membership such as annual summer internship program, quarterly campaign training, job development and placement, GOTV operations and rallies, and monthly speaker’s series which features local elected officials, national Democratic operatives and strategists.

Special Assistant to the Speaker

• Advisor to City Council Speaker Gifford Miller on issues facing the African-American and faith based communities and liaison to Central Brooklyn Councilmember’s, elected officials, and community leaders.

• Developed and managed special events including annual Black History Celebration, New York City Council Celebration of Gospel, Black AIDS Day Events, Toussaint L’Overture Business Awards as well as various Clergy meetings.

• Researched and prepared briefing and background materials on issues including workforce development, health disparities, education, and economic development.

Kerry/Edwards Wisconsin Victory 2004

GOTV Supervisor

• Assisted in the creation and execution of the largest paid G.O.T.V. operation ever in Milwaukee;

• Successfully increased turnout in two of the largest aldermanic districts in North Milwaukee with the highest democratic performance and the lowest voter turnout.

• Developed relationships with elected officials and community leaders to help generate excitement in the community about the election.


Pacifica Foundation: WBAI Radio

Local Election Supervisor

• Managed the entire election process of WBAI’s first historic Local Station Board elections.

• Developed and maintained a budget, produced and approved all election materials, organized candidate forums within the listening area, and administered the distribution, collection and counting of election ballots.

Democracy Program Assistant

Provided administrative and clerical support to the program team. Created and continually maintained a central contact database, scheduled and facilitated conferences.

Contributed to the development of the policy agenda and strategies of the Program and created the concept and design of issue presentations.

Researched and co-produced the Democracy Dispatches, Demos’ bi-weekly electronic digest of democracy developments across the country using web-based news and legislations searches. Assisted in drafting research memos, reports, fact sheets and other documents on select democracy reform issues.
