ULYP of Greater Pittsburgh is one of sixty-four chapters of the National Urban League Young Professionals and is a volunteer auxiliary of the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh. ULYP’s purpose is to assemble Pittsburgh area professionals between the ages of twenty-one and thirty-nine committed to serving the region through activities that support the National Urban League’s Empowerment Goals.
In this role, I partner with full time and part time MBA students to craft their career plan. I assist them with resume development, interview preparation and negotiation. In addition, I facilitate professional development training and teach the students how to leverage social media.
While at PNC, I participated in the 12 month HR Leadership Development Program. In this program, I had the opportunity to work within the Recruiting, Compensation, Employee Relations, Diversity and Talent Development Departments. Upon completing the program, I took on a unique role where I served as a training facilitator and diversity campus recruiter.
My dream job is to serve as a professional speaker - hosting career and professional development workshops across the world.
During my internship at Merge, I worked within the talent acquisition arena. I attended the NAACP Diversity Career Fair in Chicago to recruit experienced candidates for open positions and planned for fall recruiting at various universities across the US and Canada. I also took on a special projected where I assisted the Vice President of HR with creating a 3 hour training session entitled “Merge Mangers’ Boot Camp”.
During this intership, I developed marketing pitch books for Legacy Morgan Stanley products and Legacy Smith Barney Products to recruit financial advisors. I also created a competitive analysis of the Professional Alliance Programs throughout the financial services industry.
During my time at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, I organized summer intern events and managed communications for over 180 interns. I also facilitated training for Semester of Discovery Interns within the Chicago office.
Hampton University was a life changing experience. I was a student within the 5 Year MBA program and took courses within all aspects of business. I was heavily involved on campus and held leadership roles within Golden Key Honor Society, NAACP and within my sorority, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. I am also a graduate of the Honors College Program and was named the 2011 HU Model Student.
