Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician

Learn and perform the duties of a pharmacy technician, under the guidance and supervision of pharmacists and qualified
technicians, through a structured and comprehensive training and education programme, including day release at college
to meet the professional regulation and registration requirements.
Learn and practise under supervision in each section of the training rota, including stores, distribution and procurement,
dispensary, classical manufacturing (extemps, non sterile, sterile) and aseptic services (PN, CIVAS, Chemotherapy
Learn and practice effective communication skills and attitudes towards customers, including patient counselling when
Accurately dispense prescriptions for inpatients and outpatients in accordance with department procedures, as well as receiving prescriptions from the outpatient hatch, and counsel patients on their medications.
Answer pharmacy enquiries using relevant information and reference sources.
Participate in ward stock and medicines distribution service.
Participate in the manufacturing process and packing of sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products in accordance with relevant legislation and departmental procedures.
Participate in the provision of Aseptic Services, and the pharmacy oncology service.
Maintain appropriate recording systems within the department, including patient data entry, computerised issue and stock
control. Ensuring the required Security arrangements are met at all times.
