Kenton Gilmartin

Operations Manager

THE KLONDIKE GROUP, INC.

Suffolk County, MA

I have spent the last two years enjoying a once in a lifetime opportunity to live and work in the tourism industry on the frontier in Skagway Alaska. I am seeking a team-based environment that includes frequent interaction with the clients, my team, and partners.

THE KLONDIKE GROUP, INC.

Operations Manager

The Klondike Group, INC. was founded by entrepreneurs Heath and Jamie Goebel. Within it are four companies, Southeast Tours, Alaska Green Jeeps, Glacier ATV Tours, and Yukon Heath's Popcorn Emporium. I cannot stress how amazing Heath and Jamie have been to me as employers, and more importantly mentors. They taught me in two short years, what a university could never do in four years, which was how to run a successful company from the ground up.

South East Tours

Operations Manager, Professional Driver, Tour Ambassador

Serving Skagway, Alaska for over twenty years, Southeast Tours is one of the oldest and most respected companies in the area. Southeast Tours has a five star rating on Trip Advisor with over three hundred ratings! This opportunity tremendously increased my public speaking abilities and simultaneously exposed me to customers from all over the world.

Alaska Green Jeeps

Operations Manager

The self-guided jeep tour is a unique tour within Skagway. Unlike our competition Avis rental car, our tour provides an audio guide and book which guides the client mile by mile . This company also has a five star rating on trip advisor with over one hundred reviews. Responsibilities included reservations, customer service, and sale, including up selling existing customers.

Glacier ATV Tours

Operations Manager

Helping to start up this tour was among the highlights of my work experience. I was involved in everything, from buying the units, to building the trail, to obtaining the permits. The tour starts in Alaska, and goes into British Columbia on First Nations/Native America land. Establishing the proper permits between the British Columbia and First Nation's government required hard work, dedication, and diplomacy. CEO/Owner Heath did an amazing job creating this tour, and I am honored that I was able to learn from him and contribute along the way.

Yukon Heath's Popcorn Emporium

Operations Manager/ Store Manager

The popcorn emporium was for all intensive purposes my office for the first year with the company. It is here where I had the most authority where everything from scheduling, hiring, inventory, ordering, customer service, and the day to day operations were completely in my hands. While managing the store, revenue went up over twenty percent. I attribute my fast adaptive skills and problem solving abilities to my time here.

Skagway School District

Head Coach Cross Country

Working at the Skagway school district was an incredibly rewarding experience. The entire Skagway school system has fewer than one hundred children in it. Despite competing against much larger schools, the team was able to achieve a respectable 4th place in the 1a/2a/3a division in Southeast Alaska. What made the experience worthwhile was the fact that every single student improved during the season, setting personal best records. Volunteer and community work is something I would like to peruse along side my career!

Wheaton College

History, History

I originally attended Wheaton College in Norton Massachusetts. Wheaton College is the oldest ongoing institution of higher education for women in the United States until it started admitting men in 1988. I decided to transfer to Bridgewater State University in order to pursue a minor in Aviation Management, a degree which Wheaton College does not offer.

Bridgewater State University

History and Aviation Management, History

I am a recently graduated cum laude from Bridgewater State University, where I earned my baccalaureate degree in history, with a minor in aviation management.
