The Cheney Place, an iconic urban venue, sits on a quiet stretch of 1600 Monroe Avenue. From intimate gatherings for six, to formal black tie affairs for 300, The Cheney Place can meet your needs for an unique experience.

• Reply to inquires and answer all questions of potential clients.
• Schedule appointments and provide personalized tours of the venue to interested clients.
• Act as an onsite liaison between the client and chosen vendors and staff.
• Work directly with client to create a floor plan and set-up tables, chairs and other chosen decorations prior or on the day of an event.
• Write up day-of timeline and coordinate arrival and set-up times with vendors.
• Be present during set up and reception to ensure that all venue regulations are followed and to answer any questions.
• Ensure that the venue space remains neat and take care of any issues that may arise during the event including restroom maintenance.

Michigan Abolitionist Project (MAP) helps people use their gifts and talents to prevent and end modern slavery in Michigan communities and beyond. We prevent slavery through education and awareness with a focus on three areas: community engagement, training, and creative projects.

• Aid in the process of non-profit event planning while working side by side with the MAP team to organize non-profit events including fundraising and public awareness.
• Assist in all aspects of occasion coordination including planning, design, advertising and marketing, innovative fundraising, and sponsorship.
• Create concept storyboard for each event; establish venue, entertainment, ambiance, theme, food and beverage, sponsorship, and overall budget.
• Organized events including film promo release, benefit concert, and multiple fundraising events. Planned a presentation event for a new collaboration partner- Hope for the Voiceless at a local Grand Rapids venue.
• In the process of planning the organization’s first ever summer benefit concert in Grand Rapids. Funds raised will benefit Michigan Abolitionist Program's work to end sexual exploitation of men and women in West Michigan.

• Successfully oversee events in the three available rental rooms and occasional “Cygnature Events”.

The first unique concept restaurant of its kind, owned and operated by Meritage Hospitality Group. A classic corner pub that features a locally grown menu with a "Commit to the Mitt" dedication to buy local products from vendors within 20 miles of their restaurant.

• Promoted from server to supervisor in one month’s time.
• Oversee a team of 11 employees per shift while communicating with both back and front of house. Supervise line and expo window.
• Communicate and form loyal relationships with guests while showing impeccable customer service.
• Responsible for counting cash drawers behind bar and in the office safe. Must complete office orders, inventory counts and distribute tip-outs to host(ess) and bartenders.
• Created a successful tip-out and check-out plan for employees and also a plan for opening, closing and side work practices for servers.
