Magazine maven and creative entrepreneur with a background in journalism and publishing. I'm an old school magazine editor with a strategic branding mindset.

The Riveter Magazine

Co-Founder, Editorial Development and Brand Director

The Riveter Magazine was born during the second semester of my senior year of college. Since starting the mag with my friend and collaborator, Joanna Demkiewicz, my day-to-day role has shifted as our audience and goals evolve. I'm currently conceptualizing a new approach to our online editorial strategy and making sure our brand and mission is conveyed across a growing number of platforms.

The Sager Group

Research Assistant

Mike Sager, writer-at-large for Esquire magazine, is publishing a three-part anthology celebrating women in journalism. The first volume, "Newswomen: Twenty Five Years of Front Page Journalism" will be released in October 2015. The second two volumes will feature women in magazine journalism. I contribute by doing first-person interviews with the featured women.

University of Missouri

Bachelors of Journalism, Bachelor of Arts, magazine publishing, creative non-fiction writing

During my senior year capstone in the J School, I had the opportunity to create a publication from scratch in collaboration with a small team of my classmates. We presented the final product, a men's lifestyle cooking magazine, to Meredith Corporation in Des Moines. The semester-long process taught me the importance of competition and market analysis analysis, two research-intensive tasks that are important for any entrepreneurial initiative. It also gave me my first taste of editorial branding across several platforms.
