• Served as cultural ambassador through involvement in the local community—writing for the Gwangju News, tutoring disadvantaged students and North Korean defectors—and with various American Embassy programs

Amherst College

BA cum laude, Political Science and Asian Languages & Civilizations

Concentrated on American Constitutional Thought and Jurisprudence in the Political Science major, but wrote a thesis titled "Peregrinación Política: On how Moral Shock & the Catholic Church allowed Cuba’s Ladies in White to March On" on social movements in Cuba.

Concentrated on East Asian Popular Culture in the Asian Studies major and completed a capstone research project titled "So Pretty it's a Virtue: On the Economic Aspects of Plastic Surgery in China, Japan, and South Korea." Completed eight semesters of Japanese language study.

Funding for the completion of an independent research project on the impact of the Cambridge Civic Association—a powerful local electoral coalition—on the appointment of Frank J. Frisoli to the position of Superintendent of Cambridge Public Schools and the impact it had on delaying the implementation of far-reaching reforms

Researched the applicability of the of the Promise Neighborhood educational model to Springfield, MA through interviews with local residents, mapping, and resource analysis for the Springfield Promise Neighborhood Learning Committee which culminated in the policy report:
