Middle East Peace Building Associate

As AFSC's Middle East Peace Building Associate, Katie serves in various capacities in AFSC's Israel-Palestine programs. She currently directs several national projects, campaigns and events working as part of AFSC's Israel-Palestine Joint Program. Katie has organized dozens of speaking tours, conferences, workshops, advocacy campaigns, and educational programs about the Middle East both before and throughout her employment with AFSC. Her first visit to Israel and Palestine was in 2011 with Interfaith Peace Builders. She has since both organized and participated in delegations to the Middle East, most recently in May, 2014 and May 2016.
In May 2014 and 2016, Katie visited AFSC’s offices in Gaza and the West Bank, whose work is focused on supporting Palestinian youth cohesion across Gaza, the West Bank and Israel, and supporting efforts to end the occupation of Palestinian territory, including actively opposing the militarization of Israeli society.
Katie has extensive experience working with national and international organizations, political representatives, allied social justice organizations and coalition movements (i.e. Black Lives Matter, Women's Groups, etc.), including strategizing, organizing and implementing successful and strategic movement building events, campaigns, resources, and more.
Katie has directed and collaborated on multiple national and international projects and campaigns with AFSC's allied NGOs including: the US Campaign, Defense for Children International-Palestine (DCI-Palestine), Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, FOSNA, JVP and more. Project have included; leading AFSC's collaboration on their first Congressional Briefing focused on Child Detention (June 2, 2015), organizing as AFSC's national director, AFSC's 2015 US National Speaking Tour featuring Palestinian youth from Gaza and the West Bank, strategizing and organizing in collaboration with multiple International NGOs annual Ecumenical Advocacy Days in DC and more.
