Recreation Manager

• Provided management oversight, coordination, promotion, implementation, and evaluation of all recreation programs, activities and events for the District
• Hired, trained, supervised, and evaluated 25 staff members, both full and part-time
• Oversaw all department programs, including 5K races (of note, instituted pre-registration discounts and a formalized registration process to improve the efficiency of the event), both senior and youth activities, trail races (including a new trail system that was integral in the continued development of this program), youth league basketball and baseball as well as other internal youth sports, dance and tumbling classes, adult co-ed softball, adult and senior fitness classes, etc
• Developed, prepared, and managed annual department budget of $600,000, including sub-departments, events, programs, staff salaries, additional staff hires, etc
• Presented recommendations and expenditures of budgetary concerns to Board of Directors for review
• Revised existing and developed new policies and procedures for the District and the Recreation Department; specifically, initiated quarterly “mini-evals” to allow staff to improve upon areas of concern before the annual evaluation
• Partnered with local organizations to provide a higher quality of experience for all members of the community (eg, BLM, Forest Service, Colorado Parks and Wildlife) and to provide additional activities, such as horseback riding led by area outfitters and fishing tournaments. Most importantly, made use of all of the resources that may be available within the District, throughout the community, and through the use of these external partners
