A&R Intern

Working for an A&R department means much more than listening to music all day, every day. WMN A&R department brought me close to the decision making process every label needs to go through. The most important thing I've learned - and I am still learning - with Scott Hendricks, Cris Lacy, Rebekah Gordon and Stephanie Haymes is to train my ears to differ good music from great music, good artists from great artists. To achieve that, I am allowed to listen to unsolicited music sent to the department every day. I also burn comps and "songs of the week" CDs for my bosses with their chosen songs for each artist. I also have the incredible opportunity to be a part of pitch meetings and to familiarize myself with the publishing companies in town.
