Outgoing Artistic Director

Responsible for developing the Artistic Policy and programme for City of Culture. Oversees a team of three programmers, three clerical programming staff for the year. Responsible for the delivery, execution of an innovative and creative programme for the year along with the budget management of 6-9 million euro of projects ranging from arts to sports projects.

To ensure that the artistic project meets it four key City of Culture objectives, which are to encourage greater participation and community engagement, to commission work that encourage collaboration across the whole city, to export Limerick work, to implement and develop with the local culture makers sustainable legacy projects and to ensure the very best creativity and innovation throughout the year.

To set up and organise and deliver a funding delivery mechanism for local groups, to oversee the distribution and processing of 2.5 million euro of local grants to local communities.

To operate as figure head for the City of Culture, to debate/speak at public engagements that represent the project. To ensure that artistic projects are able to deliver and to provide mentorship, support and opportunities to the local arts providers.

Executive Producer for the National Folk Theatre, responsible for the day to day operational management of the theatre venue and resident company. Main duties include: Strategic development and creative direction of the organisation, overseeing financial and administrative operations, planning, delivery and execution of the creative programme fundraising and stakeholder development. Directly line manages senior management and oversees a staff team of 105 full-time, part-time and casual staff throughout the year.

Reporting directly and regularly to the Board of Trustees (the charity’s governors) as well as key stakeholders including the Department of Culture Sports and Tourism, The Arts Council and both Kerry County and Tralee Town Council.

Key areas: arts management, change management, overseeing internal restructuring, arts programming, visual arts curation, personnel management, development of internal policies, management of tourism products, development of partnership both locally, regionally and nationally. Responsible for: Leading the Creative team in the delivery of the arts programme in a multi purpose venue with two performances spaces and selected workshop and education facilities. Responsible for the directing of in house productions and the overall programming within the organisation. For setting Artistic Policy and Procedures and for formulating strategic policy and business planning of the organisation. Direct line manager to Education and Technical Department, Diversity and Visual Arts Programmer . Prepare and present regular financial statements for programme and production expenditure for approval. Deputise for Chief Executive, Review, evaluate and report all artistic operations, Key venue contact for Arts Council of England.

Responsible for programming theatre productions throughout the calendar year – sourcing all artistic and creative personnel for these projects and developing a clear marketing strategy and education and outreach programme for these projects. Responsible for National and International profiling of the organisation. The Artistic Director is also Chief Executive Officer with a responsibility to oversee and execute all fundraising and responsible for all budgetary expenditure and income.
