Kacie Brandenburg

Kacie Brandenburg

Camden County, NJ

I am a responsible, detail-oriented, driven, and motivated college graduate who aims to achieve success through excellent service, genuine passion, and effective verbal and written communication. I am interested in a career that makes an impact through environmental sustainability and education.

University of Delaware

Bachelor of Arts, English

You Can't Fail As Long As You Learn | I entered the University of Delaware with excitement, apprehension, and ideas of endless opportunity. I supported my English major with minors in journalism, public policy, and environmental humanities, adding depth and multifaceted viewpoints to my understanding of the world. I witnessed inequity and environmental degradation, read novels and articles that exposed corruption, learned about food production through work on an organic farm, and saw fracking firsthand as I canoed down the Susquehanna River.

After six semesters, I graduated with new perspectives, several missteps, writing and research skills, a passion to combat injustices, and a refined sense of myself.

Walt Disney World

Pirate Master

Not All Treasure is Silver and Gold | Transforming landlubbers young and old into pirates, mermaids, zombies, and mermen sharpened my attention to detail, refined my storytelling abilities, and taught me to read nonverbal cues while changing my language to fit my audience's ages and personality.

Most importantly, it showed me that a few well-timed jokes, a lot of improvisation, and genuine interest make an experience far more meaningful than the physical treasure you may give or receive.

BGA Consultants, Inc

Salvage Consultant

People Need People | The insurance, inventory, and appraisal work I do matters a lot, and I strive to do it right from beginning to end. But working directly with people who are experiencing some of their worst days has shown me that compassion, individualization, and patience are crucial to helping people move forward, financially and emotionally, from losses.

University of Delaware Writing Center

Lead Writing Consultant

The Delivery Matters | When people write, they leave a piece of themselves in their creations. The greatest challenge I faced during my one-on-one consultations was strengthening pieces of work while ensuring that authors' visions and unique voices remained. Each session required me to use different methods to communicate with, support, and constructively deliver information to clients with the ultimate goal of increasing the content's quality and author's confidence.

If wealth and power are the ways by which we measure greatness, perhaps I'll seek out goodness in its place.

Walt Disney World

Previous Work: February — May 2016

Make Magic, Do Good | My time as a cast member taught me that the best service comes from the heart. Acute awareness of my surroundings; empathetic listening; genuine care; and a welcoming, happy demeanor allowed me to go above and beyond every day to create magical moments for guests.

ShoreRivers (Formerly Sassafras River Association)

It Takes Everyone | This internship gave me the opportunity to contribute solutions to the myriad environmental challenges facing Maryland's waterways. Science-based tests, hours on the river, and population studies allowed me to help connect the community to its waterways. This engaged the community and inspired members to improve the river's health.
