Aiken County Emergency Services

Advanced EMT

As an Advanced Emt I am required to maintain my national, state and local certifications. We are trained in applicable skills and procedures monthly based on the national standard of care and a comparable skills as the governing associations update our local and state protocols. We conduct daily inspections on our Rigs and report structural and mechanical deficiencies. Inventory of the station and Rig are conducted at the beginning of each shift. Additionally we provide emergency prehospital care to the sick and injured in the community. This requires that we have a level of proficiency in communications and interpersonal relations. I have faithfully served with Aiken county from 2010 and I am currently employed in a leadership position having a positive impact on my crew and my superiors as well.

Patient Transport Team Lead

Our transport department was divided into two primary shifts. I was a night shift team lead and there was a day shift as well. We operated off of a patient tracking system where the individual departments would request a transport within the hospital and we would dispatch to the available personnel via cell phone or paging system. I was trained on our system in Savannah Ga at Savannah Memorial Medical center. We also received training in seminars and computer based training through the the hospital. I also maintained attendance and personnel records for our department. I did conduct yearly and probationary evaluations on my shift which was included for consideration of incentive pay increases. I resigned my job to go to emt school while working a part time job.
