Understanding how students make meaning of their college experiences enables me as a career counselor at the University of Georgia to provide enough challenge and support in their exploration of possible careers and strategic choices of purposeful experiences.

Career Counselor. Educator. Facilitator.

After recruiting and teaching, I knew I wanted to get more involved with developing college students in preparation for their future careers. I empower individuals to be authentic & confident in their job searches and disrupt the "plans" of individuals who set goals without understanding why.

Cardinal Health

Senior Financial Analyst and Recruiter

I allowed my major to dictate my career after graduation. While I had the personality of a "finance person" and love analyzing information and people, I preferred working with people than data. When I began recruiting I found that I really enjoyed working with college students. At the same time there was only so much I could do to develop them professionally in my role. After taking StrengthsFinder 2.0, I realized that I wasn't leveraging my strengths of Individualization, Developer, and Connectedness in my work and wondered what I could do to positively impact others.

My goal as an undergraduate student was to graduate in four years with the major I had first declared. I devoted most of my time and energy to student organizations and developing leadership among Asian Americans.

Teach for China

Fellow and Recruiter

This was the biggest risk I had taken in my life. I quit my corporate job to teach middle schoolers English in rural China at an overcrowded and under-resourced school. I came to love teaching in the classroom / facilitating workshops wanted more one-on-one interaction to better serve each student's needs. Unfortunately, I was limited in what I could do with the latter.
