I serve as Senior Manager of Communications for the National Urban League Washington Bureau where I lead the Bureau’s social media and digital strategy and work with the Senior Director and NULWB staff to brand, lift up and advance the National Urban League, the Washington Bureau, its policy/legislative agenda and messaging coming out of Washington, DC to the public and affiliate movement.

Assisted with development of strategic weekly plans for communications, monitored statewide & national media coverage, identified & placed validators on television & in print throughout Virginia. Assisted with the planning & execution of press events including press conferences, drafted press releases & media advisories, & drafted remarks for surrogates and validators.

I served as Press Assistant for Congressman G. K. Butterfield, Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus & Representative of North Carolina’s First Congressional District. As Press Assistant, I managed the Congressman's social media & digital outreach operation. In addition, I managed the constituent correspondence process & advised the Congressman on Women's Rights issues.

I'm a political junkie, so getting to be right in the thick of the action here in our nation's capital was such a treat for me. I handled the constituent mail program for my office as well as a number of legislative issues. I also assisted with our communications department.

I had the privilege of participating in the Congressional Black Caucus' Emerging Leaders program which allows students to spend a semester interning on the Hill and participate in amazing leadership building opportunities. My time with CBCF was invaluable and changed my life.

UNCG is home to the most diverse population of students in the UNC system. I studied Political Science, Media Studies, and African American Studies. More than what I learned in the classroom, I learned about myself at UNCG. The school and Greensboro will always be a piece of home for me.

I moved to Washington, DC 2 years ago without knowing anyone here or having any clue what I was getting myself into. It was the best decision I've ever made and I'm so thankful that I'm here.

Communications Director

The Congressional Black Associates serves as a professional and social network for Black employees who are working or have worked on Capitol Hill to disseminate information on relevant issues and news important to black people. As Communications DIrector, I manage CBA's social media accounts and keep our members engaged with upcoming events and career advice.

My Thinking Talents

One of my strengths is being relational. I enjoy connecting and communicating with people. My career goals are centered around inspiring others through communication.

My First Public Speaking Experience

In December 2014, my CBCF Internship cohort chose me to give a speech at our closing ceremony. This experience allowed me to realize that I really enjoy public speaking and engaging others through speech.
