This annual event, celebrating contribution of gay people to theatre, past and present. Founded in 2004 to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Oscar Wilde, in his native city, it has continued to be produced by a volunteer committee over the last ten years. With an emphasis on new or recent international and Irish works with a broadly gay theme or relevance, the Festival has grown to become the largest event of its type in the world, producing its 2000th production in 2013.

Limerick 2018 Gay Games Bid

Bid Co-Ordinator

I was involved as the Bid Co-Ordinator for Limerick's bid to host the tenth Gay Games in 2018 in Limerick, Ireland. While not be selected as host on this occasion, the bid was successfully brought down to the final three cities, alongside London and Paris. This was after fending off competition from Amsterdam, Orlando, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo - Not bad for a fantastic compact Irish city in the Midwest.

The role involved: negotiation; community engagement; project management; stakeholder management; grant writing; team management; task-orientated deadlines; time management; proofreading; writing; Financial management; and good old Irish conversation to get the job done under time and cost restraints.
