Contract Assignment as a Senior Inspector Gas Engineering

Provided field leadership and engineering oversight to the teams performing O&R’s major capital gas engineering projects including bare steel main replacement, system reinforcement, area upgrades and municipal construction projects.

Highlight:

Provided engineering oversight and field leadership to O&R's $10MM Rt 78 Gas Transmission and Distribution project. This project includes the installation of over 21,000 ft of both 12" steel transmission main and 8" Plastic distribution main that are being installed in a joint trench.

Managing the gas system replacement for the New Hempstead Rd reconstruction project in New City, NY.

The New Hempstead Rd reconstruction project includes major grade changes,roadway realignment, new drainage piping and substructures.
This requires the installation of over 2 miles of new 12 inch PE pipe and the replacement and relocation of all cross street connections and service lines within the project limits. Gas relocation is taking place in conjunction with the roadway reconstruction and the relocation of all other utilities presenting numerous challenges to the project team.

Utility Construction Project Coordinator

Highlight:
Dispatched to resolve conflict between company, pipeline contractor and owner.
Became project coordinator for the design modifications and as built data capture for Atlanta Gas Lights 24 inch A1/Johnson Header gas transmission project in Atlanta Ga. Coordinated the activities of personnel from Latex Construction, Woodard & Curran and Wolverton & Associates to field modify design drawings and ensure accurate as built data capture. This included the design and data capture for 4 miles of new pipeline, modification of an existing gate station and construction of a new 750 psi gate station with a 350 psi to distribution regulator station. The data capture technique employed insured that smart pig anomalies that were actually part of the design were immediately identified eliminating costly and time consuming evaluation.

Utility Construction Project Coordinator

Highlight:
Project coordinator for the field design of the 350 KV Hudson Partnerships trans Hudson cable crossing bringing energy from west of the Hudson River to NYC. Coordinating the activities of Hallen Construction, CMX Engineering and the Partnership we test pitted and mapped the entire land based construction corridor. The design of the multi bundled 8” cable components required accurate design to avoid existing underground structures and facilities. http://hudsonproject.com/

Construction Superintendent
Provided field leadership to the engineers, inspectors and contractor crews responsible for installing gas mains and service lines in NYC. Designed and supervised gas main relocation construction on New York City municipal projects. Field manager for the pressure upgrade of 7 miles of 30" transmission main from 300 to 424 psig.

Senior Field Operations Coordinator
Developed and ran a number of field operations programs to reduce operating costs and ensure compliance with mandated safety, environmental and governmental rules and regulations.

Quality Control Inspector
Performed welding inspection, welder qualifications, plastic fusion inspection and nuclear compaction testing. Performed site inspection of underground gas line construction to insure compliance with 49CFR 192, 16NYCRR 255, API 1104 and Nat Grid codes and standards.

Operations RD&D Project Coordinator
In conjunction with gas industry research partners and independent contractors developed new tools, processes and work systems that reduced field construction and maintenance costs. These included keyhole tools and vacuum technologies, the Quick-Stop low-pressure gas main emergency isolation system, the Dresser swivel valve tee, an epoxy pipe lining process and ergonomic construction tools.

Engineering Analyst
Developed cost effective project designs for the gas distribution system. Ensured that new gas mains and services were installed correctly and on time. Designed and supervised the construction of gas main installations on New York State bridge reconstruction projects.

Daily site Inspection of the work of utility contractors installing gas mains and service lines to insure compliance with company codes and standards.
