Senior Analytics PM | Skype for Business

In this role, I am part-time data PM an part-time data scientist. As a data PM, I manage metrics processing and reporting requirements. As a data scientist, I get to apply data science and machine learning theory to real business situations, and see how theories help unlock real business values and insights.

Senior Program Manager | Skype for Business

My first role after the switch to program management. I worked with an engineering team to deliver the Call Quality Dashboard for Skype for Business customers, and validated that the switch to program management was indeed aligned with my passion. I like working with a team to build and deliver products to help solve problems for customers!

University of Washington, Foster School of Business

MBA, Technology Management

The MBA program had a strong emphasis on entrepreneurship, which made me become more open to working in a startup, or on a start-up team within a large company. This was also the period when I made the switch from engineering to program management, so I can better utilize my business knowledge.

Education

University of California - San Diego

M.S., Computer Science

Computer Graphics and Computer Vision were just taking off when I went to school, but were sufficiently mature to show me how cool it could be when Computer Science was applied to daily life. I also got my internship with Microsoft while I was in UCSD, which helped launch my career.

Rutgers University

B.S., Computer Science

It was not until I took data structures and algorithms classes when I saw how computer science can solve complicated problems with sometimes simple and elegant solutions. These classes also helped set the foundations for my modus operandi going forward -- breaking problems down to smaller, more addressable pieces that can be tackled more easily.

Software Design Engineer in Test

In my 10 years in the test discipline, I not only helped ship multiple products and services with quality, but also moved up the career ladder and managed people for 3+ years. The management exposure is what got me thinking more seriously about pursuing a MBA degree, and also set me up well in terms of project management experience.
