Employing integrative in vivo, ex vivo, and molecular approaches to:
1. Delineate the mechanisms by which coronary perivascular adipose tissue influences the initiation and progression of obesity-induced coronary vascular disease.
2. Investigate potential cardioprotective effects of novel therapeutic targets following myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury.
3. Determine the contribution of specific ion channels to the control of coronary blood flow at rest and during increases in cardiac metabolic demand.
