Learned the basics of police work, including crime scene investigation, patrol basics, handcuffing, safe firearm handling, interview techniques, scene management, traffic stops, domestic violence response, search and seizure, building searches, report writing, and ticket writing.
Partook in Post events: shifts in dispatching center of WPD, traffic direction and crowd control at events such as the Fourth of July celebration and Minks to Sinks; Memorial Day Parade traffic, parade and crowd control; 2010 National Law Enforcement Exploring Competition in Atlanta, Georgia; crowd control and motorcycle safety and direction at CT United 9/11 Memorial Ride, 2008-2012.
Wrote lessons on and taught the basics of police work to incoming explorers, including topics such as crime scene management, evidence collection, proper report writing, proper radio communication, safe firearm handling, various call response types, misdemeanor and felony traffic stops, building searches, car searches, types of room searches, outdoor searches, and victim services. Administered mock police exams to explorers during meetings.
