My current title is Technician 2. I serve the technical needs of the Material Sciences Group. The Primary function of this position involves preparing a variety of raw materials to be used in AASHTO, ASTM, & other standard test methods. The goal is to provide excellent client satisfaction. Some of my job functions include:
I have been trained in the TQM in an ISO 9001 environment, adhering closely to strict quality standards, especially in the case of Nuclear Power Plant contract work.
Producing custom raw material grinds, milled to a specific fineness and particle size.
Standardized reporting using controlled documenting procedures.
Laboratory Notebook authoring and maintenance.
Laboratory Equipment setup, maintenance, and repair.
Producing and updating Spreadsheets and Documents using Microsoft Office.
Use of the LIMS database for lab activities and documentation.
Continuous Skill enhancement through training and research.

I Assisted in the development of:
USG Fiberock Gypsum Woodfiber composite technology.
Structural Cement and Fiberglass composite panel technology.
Durock Tile Backer board research and development of an established corporate product line (I assisted in the support of 5 manufacturing plants in the US and Mexico).
Assisted in the design and fabrication of in-house proprietary technology in support of product development activities, such as the two Pilot Lines used in the development of the USG Fiberock and the Fortacrete product lines.
I have operated, maintained and repaired pilot scale 'Continuously Stirred Tank Reactor' systems. I have also fabricated, operated, maintained, and repaired proprietary system components used in the process and development of the product lines (pilot line headboxes, pressing systems, hydraulics, vacuum systems large and small, high pressure water systems, feed and discharge pumping systems, & steam delivery systems.
As as CAD TECHNICIAN, I used 3D CAD technology (Solidworks) to assist in my activities as Lead Technician in the operation, maintenance, and repair of the pilot plant facilities.
As a COMPUTER TECHNICIAN, I designed and maintained systems for use on pilot plant equipment. I built and maintained various DATA acquisition systems used in the collection of data and control of equipment associated with various systems used in process development.
I have learned and used a variety of software in the execution of my duties (Microsoft Office suite, MTS Testworks, Fluke Hydra, Patentsafe Electronic Laboratory notebooks).
The commissioning, training, and use of an assortment of test machines used in lab activities. Specifically Tensile and Compression test machines up to 100 kip (MTS, ATS, & SATEC). The design and fabrication of jigs used on the test machines and also development of the 'methods' used to perform the testing of specimens.
I regularly participated in Plant Trials at various Manufacturing Plant locations in the US.
