Assistant manager

Responsible for a pool for 30 staff I am often left to run the store alone. Key holder so I open and close the store. Training of all casual staff as well as being part of the recruitment team that was the most successful to date.I also have helped write some of the new training that we have rolled out to new recruits. I have written new cash handling processes that are now used in all stores. I have networked with all other departments to bring my store standards up to outstanding. I have also reorganised the stock rooms and print room to the highest standard that has been seen since the store first opened back in 1991. I have to deal with crowds of thousands of people on a match day as well as monitor the tills and our print room next door. General customer service. Up selling, dealing with rowdy customers. Achieving active selling results through managing the casuals and coaching them in customer service skills. I am also a fully qualified First Aider.
Visual merchandising and stock controlling. Also commercial knowledge of all stores facts and figures to let me know what competition my store was up against and also to see where other stores where struggling to help them out if we could.
I have progressed from a casual worker to a full time assistant manager in less then 8months.

I helped look after the elderly. We would go and pick them up from their homes and bring them to a lunch club. We would put on teas and coffees. Then a healthy 2 course meal made fresh by us the same day. Then we would pamper them and all play bingo with them before taking them back to their homes. We did this 3 times a week and I found it a very rewarding experience.
