Beaufort Hospital/Nursing home
June 2007 — December 2010
for over 3 years I worked at The Beaufort Hospital/ Nursing Home as a Enrolled Nurse and as the Activities CoOrdinator. during this time I also studied and received my Cert 1V in Leisure and Lifestyle.
As Activities coOrdinator, I was solely in charge of the planning, implementation and coOrdination of various activities for the Residents. Theme days ie: visiting musical events, massage days, cooking afternoons, bus trips to various venues of interest for the Residents, Queens Birthday, Melbourne Cup, Easter, Anzac Day, Olympic Games Days and so on, many different activities for the Residents to enjoy, even cooking days such as pancakes for breakfast, Lavington days, pie lunches. There was always laughter and the Residents also gave their input as to what they would like to have happen from time to time. Some days I made " massage days" where Residents received foot baths, hand massages, finger nail painting, some times even toe nail painting. Many more special events were created and executed with laughter, happiness and enjoyment high on my list for the day, Every one seemed to enjoy these special days immensely.
A large part of the Activities Co Ordinators position is to have impeccable records of the enjoyment and participation of each and every Resident, my records were always precise and a monthly report to the NUM was always handed in before it's due date and the received comments from here were always encouraging.
Being involved in Activities I found it to be a very rewarding, fun filed and also a very important position to be a part of.
