Casual crew for theatre productions load in and out
Working alongside Stage Managers/technicians/dancers to help with any crew, stage hand, runner and props maintenance work. After working on a small touring production of The Ugly Duckling as a stage hand, I am now a direct contact for crew work in the Northern Ballet building or on tour
For Hull Freedom festival 2013, once the site became a live festival site, my role from production assistant changed to Artist Liaison. This took organised preparation work two months leading up to the festival and dedication during the festival. This role allowed me to build on my independent working skills and leadership skills. I took charge or the organisation of artists, accreditation allocation to crew/artists, making sensible on-spot decisions, prioritizing tasks and time, professionalism around well-known acts and liaising with crew/stage managers/volunteers/artists to make a harmonious relationship and point of call between all members of the festival team and their acts.
Working alongside all team members of the prestige pyrotechnic and events company and assisting the production manager of Hull Freedom Festival 2013, alongside other events the company directs and produces. Having built further skills in organisation, reliability/responsibility, working calmly and efficiently within a pressured environment, supporting members of a team, independent thinking, phone etiquette, basic finances (company credit cards, PO numbers etc.). More specific to the Live Events industry I have been able to gain further experience in crew work (working at Barry island Fire gardens), artist liaison/organizing, working to a time scale effectively and working with small stage pyro and fire.
