My major areas of interest and expertise are education policy and governance, school finance at both the state and local level. I am currently project director of AIR’s work as subcontractor on the Regional Education Laboratory West at WestEd; policy lead for the California Collaborative on District Reform; and lead on two school finance policy evaluations, the Gates Education Finance Portfolio Evaluation and Strategic School Funding for Results evaluation funded by the Institute of Education Sciences. I'm also part of a U.S. Department of Education (DOE) study of how states and school districts are using flexibility regarding certain provisions of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. This work includes conducting policy analysis and research on several states’ implementation of their flexibility request and reporting states’ progress back to the U.S. DOE.
