Rock the Vote
Under my leadership young voters increased their turnout by 11%, the largest increase in between any two presidential campaigns ever recorded. I did it by growing Rock the Vote's membership from 1,500 to over 1 million, registering over 2 million people to vote, and engaging more than 200 celebrities and musicians in public education campaigns.
Women's Media Center
I worked with co-founders Jane Fonda, Robin Morgan, and Gloria Steinem to make women more visible and powerful in the media and created the Name It, Change It campaign to fight sexism against women candidates.
Together with Jose Antonio Vargas, Alicia Menendez, and Jake Brewer, I co-founded Define American, a campaign to elevate the immigration reform conversation. Since it's founding, the AP, Los Angeles Times, and USA Today have all shifted away from broadly using the term “illegal” immigrant.
