Staff Diversity Specialist

I manage Diversity & Inclusion projects and initiatives for the University of Washington. In my role, I manage Employee Resource Groups; advise hiring managers on diversity recruiting strategies; and project manage the UW's Race & Equity Initiative. I thrive on variety, thus balancing multiple projects is ideal for my work-style.

As an added bonus, every morning I am greeted by the view of Mt. Rainier from one angle and Suzzallo Library (with a grand staircase and reading room that rivals Hogwarts) from another. As I step onto Red Square, I pause daily to reflect on the beauty of the Pacific Northwest and UW campus.

Career

Seattle Girls' School (SGS)

Director of Admissions & Advancement

As Director of Admissions, I was often the first face families encountered when seeking information about this dynamic, progressive STEM-school. My role was to ensure that all families had an impeccable experience engaging with SGS and felt assured the school was a great fit for their family.

University of Washington

Ph.D., Educational Leadership & Policy Studies

Obtaining my doctoral degree expands my strength, focus, and tenacity on a daily basis. My research is more than just conceptual. It provides and opportunity to understand and impact the educational experience and opportunity for low income, first generation, and underrepresented students. Knowing this is what keeps me motivated to reach my goal. I'm in the home stretch - crunching data and making sense of it all!

Civic Engagement

As co-founder and first president of the Seattle Urban League Young Professionals ('05-'07), I had the opportunity to build community and fine-tune my leadership skills and discuss issues of importance in our region alongside some of King County's top business leaders and executives.

Civic Engagement

It was an honor to join fellow volunteers and civic leaders at Boeing Field to welcome the President of the United States to Seattle, WA (2012 visit).
