Key Results:

• Conducted regular office visits with Members of Congress and their staffs
• Organized a summit for learning disabled students, including scheduling of nearly 40 office visits for one day

Assumed responsibility for all needs related to public relations and booking for a popular male collegiate a cappella group. With frequent performance requests from a variety of organizations and businesses throughout the Southeast, the booking aspect of the job requires organization and customer relations experience.

Public Policy Intern

Promoted the initiatives of the organization throughout Congress and all other related stakeholders. Through the development of policy briefs, position papers, and legislative alerts, a great knowledge was gained of the public policy field and legislative affairs.

Key Results:
• Conducted congressional office visits with members of both the House Education & Labor Committee and the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee

• Monitored the Sotomayor nomination process and investigation of her judicial background for the purpose of deciding the organization’s position on her appointment

• Attended multiple stakeholder forums and policy briefings with officials from the Department of Education, including Secretary Arne Duncan, and multiple other disability advocacy groups

• Produced multiple policy briefs dealing with imminent issues facing Congress related to the interests of the organization

• Developed and solicited items for a charity auction to benefit children with disabilities

• Prepared materials for congressional office visits


Camp Rockmont for Boys


Given a variety of different responsibilities while employed in seasonal summer camp work. Beginning as a counselor, responsibilities included organizing constructive activities for children and also caring for them for a minimum of two weeks. Given new responsibilities in final summer as a whitewater trip leader, in which much more responsibility was required, including management of camper trip rosters, directing guiding staff, ensuring camper safety, and other various tasks.

Jackaroo & Offsider

Learned the value of truly hard work in a new environment during a gap year between high school and university. Worked as a boreman’s offsider, aiding in the construction and maintenance of the 3 million acre station’s almost 200 bores, or water pumps. Also worked as a jackeroo, mustering and tending to the needs of the almost 80,000 head of cattle. Lived on homestead, isolated from society, due to an hour’s plane ride or five hour drive to the closest city.
