Hired after eight months of interning for the agency, I continued to work for RLF as I finished up my degree at Elon. Remaining on the Consumer/Lifestyle accounts, I also took on more responsibilities with new clients.
Specific responsibilities included:
- Writing press releases and media pitching
- Distributing, following up and securing articles with journalists and bloggers
- Developing targeted media lists and pitch national and regional print, trade and online media
- Managing monthly competitor tracking and competitive analysis reports on a quarterly basis
- Monitoring channels and creating social media content for various clients and the agency
- Overseeing editorial calendar and postings on agency's blog

Throughout the semester I planned a media campaign for the annual statewide event, Campout! Carolina, sponsored by client EarthShare North Carolina. This included writing press releases, creating pitch stories and increasing social media blasts and awareness and campus outreach efforts. I led a team of three account executives in delegating work, communicating with the client and being responsible for quality and timeliness of work.

Summer Undergraduate Research Experience

During the summer of 2011, I conducted a qualitative content analysis for my research topic: "Portrayals and Stereotypes of Germans U.S. Social Media Platforms". This was done as part of Elon's Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE). I was one of 50 students selected for this highly-competitive, 8-week program and I was the only student representing the School of Communications. Through this program, I enhanced my qualitative research and writing skills as well as my understanding of my undergraduate studies from an interdisciplinary view. I plan to use my research for further publications and presentations.

I worked within the Web Outreach and Communications Department during the summer of 2010. I collected and compiled data on the Museums Web Analtyics and prepared a report to my mentor on online visitor activity during the summer months. In addition, I researched, analyzed, and summarized successful social media campaigns and apps from other genocide prevention non-profit organizations. Taking my research from many social media platforms, I categorized and reflected on their successes to create a PowerPoint presentation. With this, I assisted in presenting recommendations to the Committee On Conscience on potential social media usage and applications for the Museum.
