Using the zebrafish, Danio rerio, as a model organism, I study the development of limbs. I am broadly interested in embryonic development and specifically interested in what factors of the developmental milieu result in various morphologically-distinct structures. I am working on my dissertation research in Robert K. Ho's laboratory.

GRFP/GRIP/GROW Regional Networking Event Organizer (volunteer)

We are now planning the second annual NSF GRFP networking event in Chicago for fellows from Loyola, Northwestern, University of Chicago, and University of Illinois at Chicago attended, as well as NSF GRFP alumni in the Chicago area.

Last year's event resulted in novel collaborations between Fellows at various institutions, and we are looking forward to another great event!

Travel Fund Chair

The Graduate Council is the representative student government for all graduate students at The University of Chicago. I am responsible for managing and allocating a 60K+ budget to provide travel support for students and postdoctoral scholars traveling to work-related conferences and workshops. I act as the point person for the grant submission project and lead a team of Graduate Council representatives to evaluate grant submissions and select awardees.

I am one of two representatives for the Biological Sciences Division on the Student Government's Graduate Council. Our Council acts in the interest of our students to provide funding for events and travel, as well as organize career development events for graduate and professional students.
