I currently am employed at a high paced, organized, structured physicians office specializing in gynecology and obstetrics. My responsibilities include but are not limited to; organizing schedules and attaching all patient information, keeping a calm, friendly, and responsible disposition, distributing faxes and messages, filing patient records into an electronic medical record database, verifying insurance coverage and deductibles for all appointments including surgical procedures and maternity benefits, and outpatient scheduling. I have recently added many different tasks that include billing, coding, as well as logging all patient contacts and medical information into a Microsoft spread sheet, as well as in the patients chart.

My position as a personal fitness instructor and nutritional life coach goes far beyond the gym. I was originally hired as a Medical Record Technician, which included supplying 9 physicians and 3 physician assistants specializing in Cardiology at 3 different locations with patient records. Filing appropriate records in patient charts as to give the physicians the most updated medical information for scheduled appointments and procedures. Contacting patients and getting authorization to request records from other medical offices and hospitals to provide adequate care and allow our physicians to be knowledgable of their medical history in order to diagnose patients correctly. Faxing and printing hospital and doctor orders directly. As I progressed in the company I then was moved as needed into different departments such as scheduling, which consists of calling patients to schedule new appointments, answering phones and sending patients to the correct physicians nurse, and taking nurse calls, weeding through the ones most urgent. Checking for insurance eligibility as well as entering copays for appointments. Furthermore I billed insurances, filed paperwork for FMLA for patient employers, attorneys, and corresponded with hospitals for medical records, pulled the files, logged the claims, and supplied the correct information. I worked at 4 different locations including Princess Anne hospital, Bayside, DePaul, and Sentara Leigh.
