Government Affairs Coordinator

Secretarial Assistant in the Office of Government Affairs. Reported directly to the Vice President for Government Affairs at Loyola University Chicago as the student assistant for the VP.

Responsible for managing and coordinating meetings, events, and other public affairs relating to Government Affairs using excellent organizational skills. Assisted with Loyola special events and other duties as assigned as the primary assistant for the VP of Government Affairs.

Conducted research and gathered information pertaining to Financial Aid, Payment in Lieu of Taxes, Higher Education, Civic Engagement, Legislative Bills and Process etc. Created research briefings and one page summaries which increased strong written and verbal communications.

Acted as a Liaison between Office of Government Affairs, Student Organizations, the general public, governmental offices and government representatives while serving as the Student Assistant.

Completed cold calls to organizations, legislative offices, and professionals for information, research or event management which improved my verbal communication skills.

Orientation Leader

Oversee small groups of students (approximately 8-10 students) for a period of two days. Or help facilitate parents of Orientation Students during their portion of Orientation.

Provide extensive information regarding Loyola University Chicago's policies, operation, and departments.

Be knowledgeable, flexible, and prepared to handle situations that may arise. Put customer service and communication skills into practice during 18+ hour work days.

Oversee Transfer Orientations, working together with Advising Staff, Transfer Staff, and Orientation Leadership team to facilitate a smooth orientation process for Transfer Students. Includes special training implementation on how to work with students requiring special needs.

As a Returning Orientation Leader, management and mentor relationships are formed with small groups of first-year orientation leaders.

Served as a showroom host where my residence hall room is shown three times a day during tours.
