University of Washington
Research Scientist (Post-doctoral)
April 2011 — Present
I joined Steve Polyak's lab to transition into more applied research, while continuing on my path in the Global Health and Virology fields. Hired as Senior Post-doctorial Scientist, and now transitioned into a Research Scientist position, I am investigating the anti-inflammatory and anti-HIV activities of the natural product, silymarin, as well as other immune and metabolism modulators.
While I lead multiple projects associated with the Polyak lab's current NIH-funded grant, my work has contributed to peer-reviewed, international, and high-impact journal publications. In addition, I have concurrently spear-headed the concept and writing of several NIH grant proposals, as well as a (successful) pilot Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) grant.
