My job title is a mouthful. So is the work! We are facing the greatest changing workforce in seventy-five years. By 2030, 75% of the global workforce will be Millenials. In less than ten years, we’ll have five generations working at Purina; at the same time nearly 1 in 4 of us will be eligible for retirement. By 2020, the Bureau of Labor Statistics and U.S. Census Bureau forecast a 10 million person talent shortage—the net result of 23 million Gen X’rs replacing 57 million Baby Boomers. And that’s just demographics. Candidates are also connecting with us in rapidly changing and enormously engaging ways. 91% of adults in the U.S. have a cell phone, and 75% of job seekers are using them or other mobile devices to interact, research and apply with employers—all of this in between uploading 72 hours of video to YouTube every minute. At Purina, we’re trying to learn this space even while participating in it, presenting us challenges and opportunities at once. Meanwhile, our overall external hiring is up triple digits, along with manufacturing and STEM hiring, while both segments report more job openings than job seekers—a 27.8% gap in St Louis alone. My job is to take stuff like this and find balance between being The Boy Who Cried Wolf and the one who cried “I told you so.” Success comes from good strategies executed by brilliant people who share a passion. I love my job!

• Subject matter expert (SME) for Talent Sourcing in areas of competitive intelligence, market trends, and workforce planning
• Conduct primary, secondary and custom research to achieve an understanding of new strategies and technologies
• Deliver recommendations with influence and in a context that gives them meaning
